- W4308790803 abstract "Modern electricity and heat networks in present and future systems are highly interdependent. One way to analyze this dependency is to use the concept of an energy hub (EH). This chapter presents a general approach to the simultaneous optimization and planning of the electrical and thermal energy systems. Taking into account the prices of the electricity market, the day-ahead (DA) and real-time (RT) markets, as well as considering the natural gas available in the network as an input to EH, planning is made to satisfy the consumers’ electric and heat load demand. The relationship between the electrical and thermal energy networks is investigated through the concept of the EH. The EH provides part of the consumer's electricity demand through the DA and RT electricity markets and the remaining of that is met by converting natural gas to electricity through combined heat and power units (CHP) and diesel generators (DGs). Gas furnaces (GFs) and the thermal output of CHPs are due to satisfy the consumers’ heat demand. Finally, applying the concept of EH and considering the carriers of electrical energy, natural gas and their relationship, we try to provide heat and electrical load in an optimal way." @default.
