- W4308949528 abstract "Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPUs) are one of the most used materials, but they are hard to recycle and when their lifetime ends they are mostly incinerated or landfilled. For that reason, this work explores the transformation of these materials into foams using supercritical CO2, searching a new reprocessing approach. The influence of pressure, temperature, and contact time on the final properties of the foams was studied. Four commercial TPUs were selected and foamed at different conditions. After foaming, it was observed that pressure was the variable with the greatest influence on the properties of the foams, being this influence statistically significant. On the other hand, temperature was also relevant in the case of expansion ratio and average cell size. Finally, the influence of pressure on the mechanical properties of the foams was studied, observing that foams obtained at 100 bar showed better compressive strength than the foams obtained at 200 bar." @default.
