- W4309352912 abstract "This chapter describes FDTD method regarding nonlinear metasurfaces (NMS) topology, beginning with general introduction of surface electromagnetics (SEM) and NMS developments. Several critical concepts of microelectronics are then discussed, which serve as the fundamentals of NMS analysis and corresponding numerical algorithms. A Maxwell-hydrodynamic model is derived from Boltzmann transport equation with certain assumptions/restrictions, where a complete FDTD algorithm is further developed based on it. Numerical verifications for both linear and nonlinear electromagnetic responses are implemented to the proposed algorithm, with well-matched results comparing to references and commercial software. Extending from the algorithm, several interesting applications of NMS are inspired accordingly, including all-optical switch (AOS), phase conjugation mirror, optically controlled beam steering, and surface plasmon polariton (SPP) generations." @default.
