- W4309355536 abstract "In this brief review, the fundamental roles of graphene in enhancing the properties of nanomaterials were reported. Graphene is a flat lattice with a honeycomb structure comprising of one layer of carbon atoms being chained together by the support of sp2 hybrids bonds. The graphene structure, therefore, characterizes a new category of material that is one atom thick, which is also known as two-dimensional materials (as they can only expand in length and width, the third-dimension height is zero). Other graphitic materials such as graphite, fullerene, and carbon nanotube are structured from the graphene monolayer. Being a semimetal, graphene has zero energy gap, and this makes it not applicable to logic circuits. Various techniques (such as tuning graphene armchair-edged nanoribbon, doping graphene, intercalation of matrix ions, and creating pores or defects into the heterostructure) were reviewed as effective for enhancing the electronics properties of graphene. The superconducting behavior of graphene was also reviewed, and it was found to exhibit both conventional and unconventional superconducting mechanisms. Synthesis of quality graphene involves any of chemical/physical vapor deposition, arc discharge, unzipping of carbon nanotubes, epitaxial growth on silicon substrates, chemical reduction of exfoliated graphite, thermal expansion of graphite, electrochemical exfoliation, and liquid-phase exfoliation of graphite, and a new synthesis technique known as flash Joule heating was also reported. Applications of graphene in various fields of science and technology were studied. The excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength, and high surface area of graphene have made it very useful in energy storage systems." @default.
