- W4309552693 abstract "this study presents the development of a region- and -site specific ground motion model (GMM) based on ground motion data obtained from the I-lan alluvial basin in northeastern Taiwan. The development was performed by calibrating the ergodic Phung et al. (2020) (Ph20) GMM developed for Taiwan. The source of strong ground motion data includes events from shallow crustal and subduction zones with magnitudes (MW) from 4.0 to 7.6, records from distances shorter than 200 km, and focal depths up to 150 km. The resulting regional model accounts for peculiarities that are not captured by the ergodic Ph20 GMMs, such as (1) the difference in source type effects, (2) VS30-scaling from the local site effects, and (3) enhancement of long period spectral ordinates due to the deep sedimentary basins. The standard deviations of the local model are much lower than those of the ergodic model, particularly the component of the standard deviation that corresponds to the site-to-site variability (ϕS2S), indicating that better site characterization can significantly reduce the overall uncertainty in ground motion estimation." @default.
