- W4309567982 abstract "• Solvent-assisted deposition of polydopamine (PDA) on textiles was reported. • In D5, dopamine was dissolved and concentrated in the hydration layer of fibers. • The PDA amount on textiles increased by using D5-assisted deposition method. • The obtained PDA coating was relatively uniform and stable. Herein, a rapid and efficient deposition of polydopamine (PDA) was achieved by using a solvent-assisted method. Decamethyl cyclopentasiloxane (D5) was selected as the solvent, in which the hydrophilic dopamine suspended and approached the fabric rapidly due to its natural affinity with the hydration layer of the cotton fibers. The fast formation of PDA coatings was realized with high utilization of dopamine and improved uniformity. It was found that the type and amount of liquid presoaked by the fabric were critical for the PDA deposition process. This novel method is applicable for the deposition and reaction of various hydrophilic finishing agents on hydrophilic fabrics." @default.
