- W4309961358 abstract "Statistical studies on the electromagnetic field distribution inside metallic cavities date back several decades. Statistical electromagnetics has received a strong boost from the use of reverberation chambers (RCs) and the most important impulse to this approach was given by the diffusion of RCs as test facilities designed to simulate an “expected” field in a controlled environment. Two strategies are available today to study the EM behavior of the RCs. The first approach is based on the plane-wave integral representation of the EM field. This model is purely statistical; a second approach is based on a hybridization involving modal theory and statistical description. The modal description relies not only on the aforementioned modal density but also on the modal bandwidth of the modes. In several applications, it may be worthy to analyze the spatial distribution of the expected protection levels from a statistical point of view. Looking at a given position inside the enclosure as in the case of classical SE definitions, it may not be sufficient to guarantee an adequate knowledge of the shielding properties of the entire protected volume. Besides, the global figures of merit are very synthetic and do not retain information related to the field distribution inside the enclosure." @default.
