- W4310366920 abstract "Inflammasome is a cytosolic multiprotein complex, consisting of a NOD-like receptor as a sensor molecule, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase recruitment domain as an adaptor protein, and pro-caspase-1. Inflammasome activation induces caspase-1, which causes the processing of proinflammatory cytokines and induction of inflammatory cell death called pyroptosis in mammals. Pyroptosis also plays an important role in protecting the host from infection via cell death and extracellular release of cytokines. Recently, several inflammasome-related genes in teleosts have been identified, and the evolutionary conservation and/or differentiation of their functions between mammals and teleosts have also been elucidated. In this section, we summarize the current knowledge on the molecular structure and functional mechanism of inflammasome-related molecules in teleosts compared to mammals, and also discusses their evolutionary differences and extent of conservation." @default.
