- W4310583988 abstract "This paper presented a relative comparison of the proposed design of channel shortening equalizers (CSE) design [1] in Time-hopping multiple access ultra-wideband (THMA-UWB) systems with the classical maximum shortening SNR (MSSNR) CSE, minimum delay spread (MDS) CSE and some commonly used Rake receivers. An overall assessment depicts that the proposed CSE design outperforms the competitive CSEs and Rake structures in terms of some key performance indicators of the system. The proposed design is relatively less complex and captures more signal energy from the user of interest while maintaining better relative BER and allows the system to achieve higher data rates. A key tradeoff which is ever present in any system is the complexity versus performance. On the basis of performance analysis, we can state that using a CSE with Rake receiver combining is a better solution than MSSNR, MDS, A-Rake, S-Rake and P-Rake in terms of performance and system complexity. It enables the effective receiver with less number of fingers saving hardware cost and complexity." @default.
