Electrochemical structuring yields the porous silicon, which is referred to a material whose surface is structured by a network of nano- or micrometer-sized formations surrounded by a void space. Si surface texturing by chemical etching in alkaline solutions is a state-of-the-art process applied industrially. Black silicon (b-Si) is a modification of structured silicon, whose light absorbance is close to 100% in a wide range of wavelengths. An essential point in b-Si application is Si surface passivation. Fine nanostructures enhance the photocarrier recombination and reduce the efficiency of the device." @default.
