- W4311018536 abstract "I appreciate the study by Stevens et al in which they evaluate the 12-month results of a novel cellulite procedure called target verifiable subscision (TVS) or referred to by the brand name of the device, Avéli.1 They did so by prospectively evaluating 68 female patients with moderate to significant cellulite treated in a multicenter with the new cellulite device. Endpoints evaluated were changes in the Cellulite Severity Scale (CSS) and/or changes in the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) via analysis of standardized photographs, any adverse events, and finally a patient-reported satisfaction outcome score. The authors conclude TVS is both safe and effective for the treatment of cellulite. Cellulite is a significant concern in the majority of our female aesthetic surgery patients.2 As such, the cause and structures of cellulite have been extensively studied.3-8 The current accepted pathophysiologic cause are firm hypertrophic “bands” of the superficial fascial system (SFS) causing depressions/dimples in the skin. An interesting and recent change is the understanding that these SFS bands are not simply in a vertical vector, but may also (and frequently) occur in an oblique fashion with multiple slips/bands creating a single cellulite depression.6-8 A number of techniques exist to treat cellulite. This range of options is most likely due to the fact that no single treatment is superior to any other and all forms of treatment leave room for improvement.5 It is difficult to release every single band responsible for creating a cellulite depression/dimple, especially the more oblique bands." @default.
