By addressing the question of how critical discourse analysis and constitutive rhetoric expose dominant and hegemonic discourses prevalent in the Bucks’ strike and written statement of demands, this chapter argues that the Bucks’ strike unveils a discursive repositioning of Blackness before labor antithetical to normative sport discourse. Using a mixed methods approach of critical discourse analysis and constitutive rhetorical analysis, this essay finds that the Milwaukee Bucks’ strike signals Blackness is a precondition to, or more important than, their labor." @default.
