- W4312248972 abstract "Prof. (Dr.) Indu Bhushan Sinha was born on January 1, 1938, in Supaur Jamua village of Munger district in Bihar. His father, Late Panch Badan Singh, was a government servant. He was a brilliant student and graduated from prestigious Patna Medical College, Patna, in 1960. He joined Bihar health services. His academic journey though continued and he did his postgraduation in general medicine and dermatology from Patna University. He was selected by the Bihar government for specialized training in nephrology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, AIIMS, New Delhi, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, and Royal Liverpool Hospital, UK. After getting vast experience at various centers, he took teaching assignments as an assistant professor in the Department of General Medicine, Patna Medical College, and continued till his retirement as a professor of medicine. He had established the first dialysis unit of Bihar and Jharkhand at Patna Medical College. He was very popular among his students. Recognizing his vast experience, academic and administrative prowess, he was given responsibilities in various governing bodies as an executive member, like in the Advisory Committee on Nephrology of National Board of Examination and the board for appointment of faculty members in Banaras Hindu University. He was the president of India Society of Nephrology, The Association of Physicians of India (Bihar branch), and Indian Medical Association. He was the editor of Patna Journal of Medicine for many years. He was always keen to support poorer section of society. He rendered selfless services through various charitable organizations such as Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, Red Cross Society Hospital, and Anugrah Sewa Sadan. As the zonal president of Lions Club, he was instrumental in getting constructed dwellings for homeless. His dedication and devotion for the care of the society was acknowledged, and he was awarded prestigious Padma Shree by the President of India in the year 2008. He was awarded Master Teacher award by the Association of Physicians of India and Dronacharya Award by the Association of Vascular Access and Interventional Society Physicians. He was given Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Society of Nephrology (2019) and Tamilnadu Kidney Research Foundation (2017). He was the senior-most nephrologist of Bihar and was regarded as Father of Nephrology in Bihar. He regarded all nephrologists and their families as his own. He was a nice gentleman to the core of his heart with no bitterness for anyone. He was loved with high regards by all and was popularly called Indu Babu. Not only he was successful in his profession and academics, but also he was a very loving husband and a loving father. His wife, Mrs. Kumudini Sinha, is a retired professor in economics, Patna University, while his son, Mr. Alok Kumar, is a successful lawyer. He was father as well as friend for his son Alok and daughter Mrs. Sweta Sinha. He enjoyed quality time with his family. He was a wonderful host also and loved organizing frequent get-together at his home. He loved to play badminton during his college days and was also fond of playing bridge. He was instrumental in organizing regular CMEs, conferences, and other academic and awareness programs. He was the person behind the only ISNCON held in Patna in 2019 (Bihar and Jharkhand). Even in his 80s, he was as energetic as a person in his 50s–60s. Despite his ailing health, he continued to provide health-care services to the society and only left the week before his last hospitalization. He fought for decades with the malignancy, but at last succumbed to his illness on November 14, 2022. He will remain an inspiration for his patients, students, professional colleagues, friends, and family. He will always be remembered for his contributions in the field of medicine and nephrology in Bihar." @default.
