- W4312551368 abstract "Over the past 2 decades the application of sewage sludge to the land is the best practical environmental option to recycle sludge. Addition of sewage sludge change the physico-chemical properties of soils as it modify the soil structure, enhanced the soil moisture, porosity, and increased humus content. Beside this, sewage sludge frequently contain concentrations of potentially toxic heavy metals and long term application of sewage sludge lead to the accumulation of heavy metals thereby reducing the quality of agricultural soils. Soil microorganisms play an important role in ecosystem functioning and soil contaminated with toxic heavy metals adversely affects the soil microbes. Therefore, in this chapter we discuss sludge and impact of heavy metals on soil microbes and metal tolerant microbes." @default.
