- W4312580050 abstract "Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are defined as the reactive substances obtained from oxygen. They act as regulators of some key signaling pathways. Moderate levels of ROS are required for many cellular functions like expressions of genes. ROS production is increased specifically in tumor cells as a result of enhanced rates of metabolism and genetic mutation. Even decent rise of ROS leads to conditions like tumor progression since they are involved in various signaling pathways leading to mutations of DNA. Cancer is considered to be belonging to the class of noncommunicable diseases. Cancer is known to be the causative agent for around 15% of all human deaths worldwide. It has been established that more than 200 different cancers are present worldwide, associated with more than 500 genes. There is a huge growth of cancer-associated data from various resources. It is also established that the information pertaining to the cancers are nonuniform and very complicated. All these information are classified as unprocessed and unstructured information. The information includes raw sequence data as well as well-annotated sequence information. Therefore, the analyses of these data in a proper manner are very important to researchers to come up with plausible mechanisms behind the onset of cancer. This review deals with the analyses of publicly accessible databases that contain data related to cancer and those other databases which are dedicated to various types of cancers. Our review will emphasize on the scrutiny of various databases and their utilities in the study of ROS-mediated cancer and their uses for the discovery of new therapeutic strategies based on regulating ROS levels in the treatment of cancer." @default.
