• W4312590939 abstract "<b>Background:</b> It is important to identify comorbidities in COPD patients. A few studies indicate that comorbidities may be related to the quality of life (QoL), use of health care resources, response to pulmonary rehabilitation, and mortality in COPD patients. <b>Aim:</b> To compare disease knowledge level (DKL), dyspnea, disease status, and QoL in COPD patients with and without comorbidity. <b>Methods:</b> A total of 106 COPD patients were grouped according to presence of comorbidity (with comorbidity; n=69, mean age=66.94±8.05 years, BMI=26.58±5.54 kg/m2, Charlson Comorbidity Index Score=4.10±1,40, no comorbidity; n=37, mean age=65.62±8.22 years, BMI=23.88±5.15 kg/m2). The DKL with COPD Individual Information Statement, disease status with COPD Assessment Questionnaire, dyspnea severity with modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale and QoL with St. George Respiratory Questionnaire was assessed. <b>Results:</b> Comorbidity was present in 69 patients (65.09%). It was observed that the sociodemographic variables of the groups were similar (p>0.05). The most common comorbidities were hypertension (63.77%), diabetes (23.19%) and cancer (15.95%). There was no significant difference between groups in terms of DKL, dyspnea, disease status, and QoL (p>0.05). <b>Conclusion:</b> It was found that COPD patients with and without comorbidities had similar DKL, dyspnea, disease status, and QoL. There are controversial studies in the literature about these results. Further studies examining comorbidities in COPD in detail are needed. Our study contributes to the literature in terms of evaluating the DKL." @default.
