- W4312594890 abstract "In the domain of green building technology, the concept of energy-saving, and articulation of engineering structure with sustainment properties are getting more attraction than before. However, introducing energy-saving material with aesthetic properties is always welcomed by engineers considering the evaluation of green technology and users’ priorities. This paper conceptualized the theme of a novel smart concrete with architectural properties by arranging the fibers into the concrete. Considering the function ability of decorative concrete, light-transmitting properties of the concrete through embedded fibers, its durability including workability, gaining compressive strength through prescribed curing process were evaluated. The specimens have been tested with the application of 140 kg/cm2 pressure per minute to justify their compressive strength against casted samples after completion of 7 days or 28 days of curing. Despite maintaining a constant cement sand ratio of 1:2 and the water-cement ratio of 0.5 for both the normal concrete and glass concrete, obtained compressive strength against both the samples varied drastically. Consecutively, concrete with fibers has good light-transmitting and decorative properties. Furthermore, mortar prepared using 50% of fine glass shows almost the same strength value as that of strength obtained from mortar prepared only from the sand. Subsequently, light intensity through the white filament is found as much more than the light intensity through nylon fiber. Hence, the strength of translucent concrete prepared from filament fiber can be used for aesthetical purposes in non-load-bearing structures. Thus, the developed self-sustainable concrete can be regarded as an energy-efficient and decorative construction material, and thereby, it can be a promising sustainable technology especially in green building. This paper also discusses the properties of concrete using waste sheet glass as aggregate." @default.
