- W4312687310 abstract "AbstractThe chapter focuses on empirical findings from significant Polish studies conducted during different phases of the pandemic (mostly quantitative surveys on teacher and student samples, but qualitative aspects will also be included). Among those presented, we will use data from a large project carried out in 34 schools where students (N = 1284), teachers (N = 671), and parents (N = 979) were surveyed in May and June 2020 (Ptaszek et al., Edukacja zdalna: co stało siȩ z uczniami, ich rodzicami i nauczycielami?, Gdańskie Wydawnictwo Psychologiczne, 2020). Apart from this, we present and interpret data from other, sometimes smaller scale projects using both a quantitative and qualitative approach. Structurally, it will cover the issues of mental health and well-being of young people (health self-assessment, depression, psychosomatic complaints) as well as the factors influencing those variables (quality of peer relations, family relations, quality of ICT usage). Furthermore, the selected data on the health and well-being of important adults (teachers and parents) will be presented, as their state should be analysed as connected to the well-being of young people.Conceptually, we will also extract the groups of young people particularly sensitive and experiencing problems during the pandemic, such as young people with special needs and their siblings, young people experiencing negative home situations, etc. We will present this group as one that deserves particular help and support. We will also present the results showing that there is a small but significant group of young people that during the pandemic had the opportunity to experience numerous positive events and had a positive impact on their functioning and development. The chapter concludes with selected ideas concerning both the distance education time during the pandemic and the organization of educational and support systems in the period of return of young people to educational institutions." @default.
