- W4312689135 abstract "Introduction: The conventional coagulation tests do not give a complete picture of hemostasis in SARS-CoV-2 infection,a more complete hemostatic picture can be formed using ROTEM. Aim and objectives: The aim of the study is the monitoring of blood coagulation of patients with ROTEM during their hospitalization and their follow-up as well as the correlation of the findings with their clinical picture. Methods: We study prospectively p22 atients who are hospitalized due to COVID-19 disease and are monitored after discharge. ROTEM is carried out at the following time points:on admission,in clinical deterioration,at discharge, one month after their discharge. Results: 11/22 patients at admission had a ROTEM thrombotic profile and in one case was hemorrhagic. There was a trend to correlate the affected parameters with the severity of the disease. In 7/14 patients the thrombotic ROTEM findings remained at discharge.5/22 patients clinically deteriorated:1 with hemorrhagic,2 with thrombotic and 2 with normal ROTEM findings at admission but all of them showed a thrombotic profile in deterioration. The analysis of ROTEM parameters in the various points of the study showed that the Maxium Clot Firmness) increased for the patients who have deteriorated in relation to admission(p=0.0233). In all patients the thrombus Lysis Index was elevated at discharge(p=0.0164) and one month after discharge(p=0.0304) in relation to admission indicating the relative contribution of the fibrinolytic mechanism to the hemostatic profile. Conclusions: Significant changes in ROTEM parameters reflect the severity of COVID-19." @default.
