- W4312690213 abstract "COPD is a disease characterized by chronic inflammation. Recently there has been an increasing interest to find a simple, low cost, widely avaliable biomarker for outcome predictors in COPD. Demographics, clinical symptoms, spirometry results, immature platelet fraction (IPF) and C-reactive Protein (CRP) tests of COPD patients between 2019-2020 were recorded. Neutrophil/lymphocyte, monocyte/lymphocyte and platelet/lymphocyte ratios were calculated. In addition, the comorbidities of the patients were questioned and the ADO (Age-Dyspne-airflow Obstruction) and CCI (Charlson Comorbidity Index) scores were calculated. 134 COPD patients (mean age 68.42±10.05, 69.4% male) were included in the study. 66.4% of the patients were in exacerbation and 33.6% of them were in stable COPD period. 48.5% of the patients was in GOLD B stage, and the 38.1% had moderate obstruction on spirometry. There was no difference between IPF (%) values of exacerbation and stable COPD groups (3.52±2.47 vs 3.31±2.30 respectively). A positive correlation was observed between IPF (%) with WBC and NLR, PLR, MLR in all patients (r=0.352 p<0.001, r=0.399 p<0.001, r=0.186 p=0,032 r=0.200 p=0.021) and exacerbation group (r=0.356 p<0.001, r=0.414 p<0.001, r=0.239 p=0.025, r=0.273, p=0.010). There was no correlation observed between IPF (%) and mMRC, number of exacerbations in the last year, GOLD stages, CCI and ADO scores in COPD patients. This is the first study to examine the relationship between IPF and COPD. The higher IPF values and the positive correlation between IPF and other inflammatory markers are suggested that IPF may be an indicator of systemic inflammation in COPD." @default.
