- W4312990635 abstract "In this modern scientific era, gene expression studies have become a routine process after the revolutionary emergence of high-throughput transcriptomics approach, such as microarray (hybridization-based) and RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) technique [next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based]. Both these transcriptomic approaches are significantly cheaper, faster, informative, accurate, and even more reliable as compared to traditional methods, such as complementary DNA library construction, suppression subtractive hybridization library, and expressed sequence tag. Since 2005 the NGS technology has expanded dramatically, which overshadowed the microarray approach due to its high-speed, sensitivity, and high-throughput advantages. Presently RNA-seq approach is extensively used for gene expression analysis, coexpression network analysis, alternative splicing analysis, genic simple sequence repeats analysis, and pathway analysis. High-throughput sequencing-based approaches have immense potential and pave the way for the development of new approaches to understand the phenomenon at the functional and molecular levels. In this chapter, we typically address the evolution of transcriptome approaches, which includes microarray and RNA-seq and its application." @default.
