At the moment of assuming the throne by the mentioned king, Sebastian Lubomirski owned a considerable property resulting from leasehold of Cracow salt mines granted by Stefan Batory. However he did not hold any political office that would give him a real influence on the shape of the state. The successive offices of Castellan of Małogoszcz, Castellan of Biecz and Castellan of Wojnicz were supposed to encourage Lubomirski to join to the royal camp. One of the most important issues discussed in the present paper is the conflict between the Count of Wiśnicz and Andrzej Bobola concerning the exploitation of salt deposits near Lednica. The disagreement took place shortly before the rebellion and worsened the relations between the court and the Lubomirski family. The aim of this article is to show the Lubomirskis’ attitude towards the rebellion as well as its consequences for the might of the family." @default.
