- W4313142147 abstract "The weathering process of volcanic material release plant nutrients and then fertilize the soil. Volcanic materials weather to form volcanic soils. The weathering of volcanic soils can be estimated by calculating the weathering indices and using them to evaluate the stage of soil development, nutrient mobility and indicate the intensity of chemical weathering in the soil. In this paper, we analyze the total elemental oxides and the degree of weathering of the soil affected by the eruption of Mount Sinabung for ten years (2010–2020). The samples were taken using the grid sampling method with an interval of 1 km, and 34 samples were collected. In this study, the calculation of the chemical weathering indices includes the Ruxton Ratio, Bases Loss, and Desilication Indices (DI). The results of this study indicate that the average total soil oxide is in decreasing order SiO2 > Al2O3 > Fe2O3 > CaO > K2O > MgO > P2O5 > TiO2. The average soil weathering indices calculated from the Ruxton ratio are between 1.90 and 2.61, Base losses are around 3.32–6.99, and desilication indices are 1.45–1.92. The volcanic soils of Mount Sinabung have a moderate level of weathering. The level of soil weathering in the vicinity of Mt. Sinabung from highest to lowest is Southeast > South > East > Northeast." @default.
