- W4313144295 abstract "Currently, the main method of treating surgical pathologies of the bladder in animals is the classical method of cystotomy performed using laparotomy, which is characterized by significant trauma and an increased risk of postoperative complications. To reduce the incidence of complications, it is recommended to use minimally invasive surgery methods, such as transurethral cystolithotripsy and laparotomically assisted cystolithotripsy. The authors conducted clinical studies aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of new minimally invasive surgical methods for the treatment of urolithiasis in dogs. One of the methods is lithotripsy, which is carried out using a holmium laser, under the action of which, fragmentation of uroliths occurs and their excretion from the body without the use of any accesses to the bladder. In the article, the authors studied the characteristics and possibilities of using lithotripsy in practice in dogs. Based on the results presented by the authors, one of the significant advantages of transurethral cystolithotripsycan be identified. It is the lack of operative access, which avoids the use of suture material, which can cause complications in the form of fistulas, peritonitis due to the failure of the suture, adhesive disease of the abdominal cavity, as well as incorrect suturing of the bladder wall, salt deposits may form on the suture material, followed by the formation of uroliths." @default.
