- W4313178001 abstract "The world is currently witnessing the COVID-19 pandemic, a disease caused by a novel coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Currently, there is no therapy for COVID-19, and several “off-label” drugs are being investigated in clinical trials across the globe. Nanoparticles are potential carriers for drug delivery and are being researched for numerous medical applications. The significance of using nanoparticles is to deliver drugs include increased drug concentration at the disease site; specific cell targeting, minimized drug degradation; ease of creating inhalable formulations. The physicochemical properties enable its ability to overcome the barriers and reach specified cellular targets to elicit biological efficacy. Nanocarriers have been reported as a promising tool for efficiently and selectively delivering therapeutic moieties to target sites of infection. In this chapter, we have elaborated on the possible role of nanocarriers as potential and effective delivery tools for the treatment of COVID-19." @default.
