- W4313289907 abstract "A lens composed of Paleoproterozoic ultrahigh temperature (UHT) granulite-facies rocks is identified in the Triassic ultrahigh pressure (UHP) belt of the Sulu orogen in the Weihai region. To decipher their tectonic affinity and evolution, we describe the field relationship, petrography, and zircon and monazite mineralogy of the pelitic granulites. The lens is gradually changed in lithology from the core to the margin: the undeformed granulite, the foliated granulite, and the migmatized granulite. The undeformed granulite preserves a peak granulite-facies metamorphic mineral assemblage of garnet + sillimanite + plagioclase including antiperthite + quartz + rutile ± biotite. Both zircon and monazite under granulite-facies metamorphic conditions recorded a consistent Paleoproterozoic age (ca 1.84 Ga) in these rocks. The Paleoproterozoic zircon grains yield very high temperatures (mostly > 900 °C) and have consistent εHf(t = 1840 Ma) values (ca −5.5). Triassic (229–210 Ma) anatexis has been recorded in the foliated and migmatized granulites. Triassic anatectic monazites widely overgrew from the foliated and migmatized granulites. Compared with the Paleoproterozoic granulite-facies monazites, the Triassic anatectic monazites have high U contents resulting in low Th/U ratios, high Y and total HREE contents, and high Eu/Eu* values. Triassic anatectic zircon grains were mainly from the migmatized granulite. They give a low-temperature condition (687 to 755 ℃) and have deeply negative zircon εHf(t = 230 Ma) values (ca −13.7). Coupled with the Paleoproterozoic granulite-facies rocks in the Jiao-Liao-Ji metamorphic belt (JLJB) of North China Craton (NCC), we suggest that the pelitic granulite lens is an “exotic” rock slice from the JLJB. During Triassic, it was involved in the continent–continent collision between the Yangtze Block (YB) and NCC and was mechanically drawn into the subducted YB. At the exhumation stage, it followed the HP-UHP rocks to be exhumated. In this period, it was affected by fluid infiltration in the subduction channel." @default.
