- W4313306982 abstract "Rotor position estimation techniques for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSM) at zero and low speeds still have many limitations. This is due to the nearly equal d-axis and q-axis inductance characteristics that make it difficult for conventional estimation methods based on injecting high-frequency signals into the stator. This paper proposes an SPMSM design having an inverted pronounced saliency for efficient rotor position estimation. In SPMSM, the tooth tip steel can be saturated by the Zigzag leakage flux of the magnet. This leakage flux causes the saturation level of this regional steel to vary following the rotor position. Besides, a considerable amount of stator flux passes through the slot-opening region. As a result, these two factors cause saliency. This paper considers the effects of tooth tip dimension on the saliency characteristic and the cogging torque in SPMSM. Then, a method to reduce cogging torque based on the slot-opening shift is proposed. By designing a conventional SPMSM and then adjusting it, a new motor with a pronounced saliency is created. Simultaneously, the cogging torque is not significantly increased compared to the original design." @default.
