- W4313309580 abstract "This chapter discusses the risk of oral traumatic lesions associated with oral sex. Palatal lesions secondary to fellatio have been reported in the age group of 18-59 years, but predominantly in young women in their early 20s. Oral lesions have also been reported in young children, often around the age of 3 years, secondary to sexual abuse. A comprehensive history and detailed oral examination are essential to obtain an accurate diagnosis. Usually, treatment of fellatio-induced palatal lesions is not necessary. Lesions usually heal in a week in the absence of repeated fellatio. Lesions may recur during new episodes of receptive oral sex. Treatment of cunnilingus-associated ulcers of the frenulum may require application of topical anaesthetic cream to relieve symptoms. Fibrous lesions may require surgical excision. Patient education is an important component of the overall management protocol. A major responsibility of the dental care professional is to educate the patient." @default.
