- W4313352712 abstract "Plant secondary metabolites can be broadly grouped into alkaloids, phenolic compounds, sulfur-derivatives, and terpenoids. The secondary metabolites are very significant for the survival of plant under different environment conditions, and also to establish interaction with different organisms in an ecosystem. The secondary metabolites are helpful under biotic and abiotic stress conditions. The secondary metabolite synthesis starts in response to various different environmental factors like salinity, soil profile, and temperature. The secondary metabolites are considered as high-value natural bioactive compounds having application in pharma, food, fragrances, biocides, dyes, and many more. These bioactive substances are synthesized by specific sets of gene expression and regulation. Several gene products participate in molecular metabolic pathways to synthesize bioactive substances. The expression of the genes responsible for metabolite biosynthesis is controlled by various factors including transcription, splicing, post translational modifications, and, microregulators such as non coding RNAs (ncRNAs). The biosynthesis genes can be identified through the combination of various molecular and bioinformatics tools. The understanding of the mechanism of gene regulation opens up the gene expression studies for the maximum and cost-effective production of secondary metabolites using available genetic engineering tools and techniques." @default.
