Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a key role in the pathogenesis of DME. Anti-VEGF agents are the mainstay in the treatment of DME. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) provides detailed visualization and delineation of retinal layers. SD-OCT enables us to observe the structural changes in inner and outer layers of retina in DME which helps us in better understanding of pathogenesis of DME. OCT biomarkers are used to predict treatment response in patients with DME treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF agents." @default.
