- W4313366538 abstract "The world’s largest fusion device ITER is currently under construction, with goals of producing 500 MW of fusion power, obtaining an energy gain Q = 10 and demonstrating reactor technologies such as tritium breeding. A wide range of theory, analysis, systems codes and models are currently being used for ITER. This chapter uses systems reverse engineering to examine the goals leading to the systems architecture and analyse elements and relations to determine emergent properties of robustness and fragilities. Some of the fragilities come from the intrinsic nature of a proto-reactor with large volume and low volumetric heating primarily of electrons. Special attention is paid to the steps taken in ITER to mitigate these fragilities to achieve successful construction and operation." @default.
