- W4313374004 abstract "The tourism-hospitality sector perceives Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as the entrepreneurial business policy to integrate socio-environmental concerns into the company mission and operation. CSR in tourism is a joint multi-stakeholder undertaking as it combines the diverse interests of stakeholders who come from varied backgrounds. It could be one-dimensional or multidimensional depending on the business nature and type variations, company guidelines about the business operation and ethics, contemporary issues, spacio-temporal realities, and expanse of business interaction with the greater society. CSR in tourism is the post-1950 development as entrepreneurial responsibility towards social and environmental causes of host-destinations had emerged then, though turns ideologically more relevant when the tourism destinations across the world suffocate due to the over footfalls of tourists. CSR-agenda designing becomes more crucial when counter-reactions to the mass and then over-tourism occur and led entrepreneurs to think for tourism destinations better to live and better to visit. Policy approach and its implementation process change responding to contemporary and changing issues thus become perpetually dynamic and paradigm shifts are logical. Of late, the world is passing through an unprecedented pandemic due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which affects tourism too. The cost of living rose to almost three times more than the rise made by the 2009 Global Crisis. The dramatic decline in tourism disrupts the world economy, putting the livelihoods of millions at stake. Pandemic experience compels the tourism industry to change its policy, mission, goal, approaches, and CSR agenda. Decision on changes in the CSR approach is crucial and the need of the hour. The present chapter will study the diachronic changes and reveal the possible paradigm shifts in tourism CSR and its future in the COVID-19 pandemic consequence condition." @default.
