- W4313385209 abstract "The peroneus longus tendon (PLT) is superficial in the lower leg and easy to harvest. However, because the peroneus longus tendon has an important function of ankle eversion, maintaining the arch and standing balance, it is still necessary to clinically verify whether the complete removal of the peroneus longus tendon will cause significant ankle dysfunction. In recent years, studies have suggested that there is no significant effect on foot and ankle function in the short term after the complete removal of peroneus longus tendon [1, 2], but there is a lack of long-term follow-up results. To avoid the complete loss of function caused by the complete removal of peroneus longus tendon, thus affecting the long-term function of the ankle, Zhao et al. developed the technique of harvesting the anterior half of the peroneus longus tendon (AHPLT) while retaining the posterior Half. It has been clinically verified that there is no significant influence on foot and ankle function [3]. Anatomical studies showed that AHPLT is longer than the posterior half, and its usable length would be close to 24 cm if harvested proximally from the lateral malleolus level. Biomechanical studies have shown that the AHPLT has the same strength as the semitendinosus tendon (ST) and is an ideal graft for knee ligament reconstruction." @default.
