- W4313442871 abstract "Hydrate based Desalination (HBD) is a new method for desalination of saline water that has been proposed in recent decades. Despite the advantages of this method, researchers are still continuing research in various fields, including the use of suitable additives to increase the rate of hydrate formation and perform the process in more suitable operating conditions. The effect of temperature, pressure, sodium chloride and cyclopentane concentration on desalination efficiency has been investigated. The experiments were performed at 274.15 and 276.15 K and 6.5, 8 and 9 MPa in a stirrer reactor. The experimental results indicated that increasing the pressure increases desalination efficiency and increasing temperature has negative effect on desalination efficiency. With three stages of desalination, the highest removal efficiency was 83.13% for a 1 wt% NaCl solution in the presence of cyclopentane while the lowest desalination efficiency was 56% for a 3.5 wt% NaCl solution in the absence of cyclopentane. All experiments indicated the beneficial effect of cyclopentane on desalination efficiency, especially in higher concentrations, while higher NaCl concentration had more negative effect." @default.
