- W4313444995 abstract "The chapter is dedicated to analysing significant ways in which driving automation transforms road transport as an ethical experience. It starts with some preliminary considerations on the shifts of control inherent to delegating driving tasks to CAVs. Building on this, problems concerning the respect and support of personal autonomy are discussed. Moreover, moral responsibility issues are identified and examined. Finally, explainability as a value supporting both personal autonomy and moral responsibility is examined. The study of human control in driving automation brings to the surface the considerable changes undergone by critical moral concepts such as responsibility, autonomy, and self-determination when human agency is delegated to, and mediated by, artificial agents. Shedding light on such transformations is a core task for a philosophical theory of artificial agency." @default.
