- W4313463522 abstract "Encountering climate change will be a challenge for any field of science, including agriculture. Plants and crops hold a significant role in climate change resilience. Snake fruit (Salacca spp.) is categorized as one of the underutilized tropical fruits, despite its valuable nutritious and environmental conservation content. This family Arecaceae member can be found grow and cultivate in South East Asian countries. Snake fruit contains vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other beneficial phytochemicals, such as phenol, flavonoids, and tannins. The locals consume freshly snake fruit as well as processed food, namely candied fruits, chips, syrups, cookies, and many more. Due to its natural cross-pollination, the snake fruit develops into many local varieties nonetheless, the most commercially cultivated snake fruit variety is Salak Pondoh. The continuously year-round fruit production of the snake fruit is another beneficial aspect. The traditional cultivation combine with the newly developed method of the snake fruit generates a positive impact for continuous fruit production and conservation purposes. In this chapter, the climate-smart technology and environmentally friendly cultivation of the snake fruit are presented along with its capacity in supporting climate change resilience which can be beneficial for the planet, humanism, as well as economical aspects." @default.
