• W4313588572 abstract "Abstract Background: Half of the pregnancies worldwide are unplanned and are related to failures, non-use, incorrect use and/or discontinued contraceptive methods. Nurses are essential health promotion agents, which includes contraceptive counselling, which promotes decision-making regarding the most appropriate contraceptive method. We want to understand midwives' perceptions of the aspects that promote decision-making for a contraceptive method by women in the process of termination of pregnancy. Methods: Descriptive study method with a qualitative approach using a focus group interview. Five midwives participated in the termination of pregnancy consultation at a hospital in Lisbon, and Vale do Tejo in Portugal, in August 2020. We carried out a content analysis of the participants' speeches with the help of the methodology advocated by Bardin and the use of the WebQdA® software. Main Results: Midwives point to sociocultural and economic aspects, age and lack of literacy as conditioning factors in choosing a contraceptive method . Conclusions : Understanding the factors that drive women's contraceptive choices can promote interventions that promote sexual and reproductive health." @default.
