- W4313596583 abstract "Loop heat pipe is an efficient electronic thermal management system combining two-phase heat transfer and passive driving mechanisms and has the merits of high performance, reliability, and robustness. In order to enhance heat transfer performance, raise transport distance, and accommodate multiple heat sources requirement, a two-phase pump-assisted loop heat pipe with two evaporators in parallel was fabricated. The evaporators were in flat-disk shape and extra driving force was generated by a compact impeller micropump. The working fluid was ammonia and a biporous wick made of sintered nickel powders was adopted. Liquid supplied to the evaporator was divided into two parts, a small part absorbed the heat in wick while the other part took away the heat leak in compensation chamber. Tests of this system indicated that smooth operation with minimal interaction was performed between two evaporators. The maximum heat fluxes for two evaporators were 27.5 W/cm2, and evaporator 2 outperformed evaporator 1 for a more sufficient evaporation liquid caused by a higher porosity. Variable heat load tests presented that temperature overshoot was caused by the blocking effect and the vapor temperature changed apparently with the total heat load. Higher pump power shrank the performance discrepancy between two evaporators caused by the porosity difference. Besides, increasing the heat load and heat sink temperature both reduced the evaporator thermal resistance. From the thermal resistance point of view, the whole system minimum value was 0.103 °C/W at heat load of 280 W, heat sink temperature of −10 °C, and pump power of 2 W." @default.
