- W4313650780 abstract "Cancer is one of the largest multifaceted and fatal global health issues. There are a number of possible reasons for its occurrence. The common causes include smoking and tobacco, various radiations, viruses and other microbial infections, poor diet, and sedentary lifestyles of people. It is spreading at an alarming rate, and it is a key challenge for researchers to find the strategies for its treatment. The role of traditional medicine has recently gained popularity around the world, and research on the therapeutic potential of polyphenols has received a boost. Polyphenols belong to a heterogeneous group of secondary metabolites that contain antioxidants that are anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic in nature and are produced biosynthetically in the plant system. Recently, researchers have explored the relationship between dietary phenols and their chemopreventive nature to human health. Natural chemopreventive and therapeutic agents are dietary phytochemicals, particularly polyphenols. In this chapter, we discuss recent research findings on the various types of the most promising polyphenols against cancer." @default.
