- W4313893046 abstract "In today’s societies shaped by capitalism, a possible distinguishing feature is consumption. By what we eat, what clothes we wear or how we live, we visibly define ourselves, create affiliations and differentiate ourselves. Consumer decisions are made by individuals based on their taste and a dispositive system of borders, which pre-structures the actions of the actors. Bourdieu describes this dispositive system of boundaries as a habit that can be understood as a mediator between social structure and the everyday practices of the actors. In the course of the increasing importance of sustainability, the increasing demand for regional products and the boom in the organic industry show that sustainability is crucial for consumers’ decisions. In this context, “sufficiency” appeals to one’s own actions and demands a reduction or waiver of resource-intensive everyday practices and a modification of practices, such as Tiny Houses. With the help of problem-centered qualitative interviews, life in the tiny house is examined as a sufficient practice and the social implications of this form of living will be examined, both in terms of everyday practices, and how this lifestyle is perceived by the residents themselves." @default.
