- W4315562648 abstract "Power systems have protection devices whose job it is to quickly isolate any faults that occur in the protected zone from the remainder of the zone that is in decent health. Therefore, this work proposes a direct optimization approach called the Coyote optimization Algorithm (COA) in an electrical power system, for coordinating the functioning of Directional Overcurrent Relays (DOCRs). Many operational constraints are thought to make coordinating a non-linear optimization issue. The main goals of the coordination process are determining the best Time Dial Settings (TDS) for relay settings and choosing a current to shorten the total operating durations for the primary relays. The optimal coordination must ensure that the primary and backup relay pairs operate independently of one another. The COA algorithm's performance is tested and compared to other optimization strategies utilizing IEEE 8-bus and IEEE 9-bus systems. The gained results demonstrate that the COA algorithm is more efficient and superior to other approaches in comparison, and it provides an effective and sustainable solution to the DOCRs’ coordination problem." @default.
