- W4316038664 abstract "The sequelae of Asherman syndrome or intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) to women of childbearing age include amenorrhea, hypomenorrhea, cyclic pelvic pain, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, and abnormal placentation [ 1 Salazar CA Isaacson K Morris S. A comprehensive review of Asherman's syndrome: causes, symptoms and treatment options. Curr Opin Obstet Gynecol. 2017; 29: 249-256 Crossref PubMed Scopus (104) Google Scholar ]. Although the estimated incidence of IUAs varies, current data suggest an incidence of 15% to 30% after suction dilation and curettage (D&C) and 8% to 22% after myomectomy [ 1 Salazar CA Isaacson K Morris S. A comprehensive review of Asherman's syndrome: causes, symptoms and treatment options. Curr Opin Obstet Gynecol. 2017; 29: 249-256 Crossref PubMed Scopus (104) Google Scholar ]. These figures vary significantly based on whether a D&C is performed in early pregnancy or late pregnancy/postpartum, as well as the approach to myomectomy. Surgical procedures performed in the postpartum period, such as suction D&C for retained products of conception, place a patient at higher risk of severe adhesions than those performed in early pregnancy, and D&Cs performed for nonpregnancy-associated indications are lower risk than those performed for pregnancy-associated indications [ 1 Salazar CA Isaacson K Morris S. A comprehensive review of Asherman's syndrome: causes, symptoms and treatment options. Curr Opin Obstet Gynecol. 2017; 29: 249-256 Crossref PubMed Scopus (104) Google Scholar ]. Incidence and Clinical Implications of Placenta Accreta Spectrum after Treatment for Asherman SyndromeJournal of Minimally Invasive GynecologyVol. 30Issue 3PreviewTo investigate the incidence, predictors, and clinical implications of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) in pregnancies after hysteroscopic treatment for Asherman syndrome (AS).
