- W4317438426 abstract "Solid-state lithium metal batteries, combining solid-state electrolyte and lithium metal anode, could largely increase the energy density and safety of the next-generation energy storage systems. However, the incompatibility between these two components is still a big issue hindering the commercialization of the solid-state lithium metal battery. Problems such as the dendrites formation, chemical instability, and volume change at the interphase still need to be further investigated. In this chapter, we focused on the efforts of constructing a composite lithium metal anode for the solid-state battery application. In a composite lithium metal anode, lithium metal is dispersed within a 3D porous matrix/framework, exhibiting unique properties than the bulk lithium metal, which may address the interphase issues in solid-state lithium metal batteries. Different fabrication methods of composite lithium metal anode were summarized and compared such as mechanical rolling, melt infusion, and electrochemical deposition. The most recent progress of solid-state batteries using composite lithium metal as the anode was also reviewed." @default.
