- W4317553729 abstract "Wildlife and exotic animal species welfare primarily relates to conditions associated with captive raising and breeding. These can be hoofstock, such as those raised on exotic game farms, some of which allow trophy hunting or harvest for exotic meats for restaurants. Exhibition animals residing in zoos and private collections are another aspect of wildlife in captive situations. For these animals, social needs and excess animals provide challenges that have economic and ethical implications. Exotic animal species vary in popularity as pets as well. Their care is challenging to owners, especially as it relates to diet, housing, social interactions, and environment, because they have little knowledge of what the animal needs might be. When the owner tires of their exotic pet, some are turned loose and ultimately threaten native species. Native wildlife welfare primarily is associated with the human-wildlife interface as it relates to deforestation and climate change." @default.
