- W4317826490 abstract "T2 relaxation time mapping is an important quantitative magnetic resonance imaging technique for assessing pathological changes and following up disease progression. Thus, it is very important for T2 measurements to be highly reproducible over time and so independent of instrumental and methodological aspects. It has been recently reported that T2 can vary within a 10% range between the slices when mapping was computed from multi-slice dual echo steady state magnetic resonance images. At the same time, the most frequently used pulse sequence for acquisition of initial data for T2 mapping is multi-echo spin echo. For this pulse sequence, T2 reproduciblity between slices, using a multi-slice acquisition scheme has not been reported yet. In this study, we demonstrate both numerically and experimentally that an inter-slice T2 variability also exists when a multi-slice multi-echo spin echo pulse sequence is used for image acquisition. We also analyse the effect of acquisition parameters on the observed inter-slice T2 inhomogeneity." @default.
