- W4318260013 abstract "Venous leg ulcers are the result of elevated ambulatory venous pressure and venous hypertension. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is one of the causes of venous outflow obstruction. Patients may be predisposed to DVTs because of an underlying hypercoagulable state, which refers to an increase in a patient’s propensity to develop thrombosis due to a change in the blood physiology as a consequence of an inherited and/or acquired condition(s). This in turn may be due to a gain of hypercoagulable function or a loss of anti-thrombotic function. Thrombophilia screening should be considered in unprovoked DVT especially in young patients, who have a positive family history and/or had an intra-uterine foetal death, recurrent miscarriages, intra-uterine growth restriction or pre-eclampsia. Thrombophilia testing should not be done during the acute phase, and of an anticoagulation." @default.
