- W4318261599 abstract "Endocrine disrupting pollutants (EDPs) are emerging pollutants in the industrial wastewater. Industries such as tannery, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, textile, etc. are some of the major contributors of EDPs to the environment. EDPs can generate changes in endocrine functions within the living organisms’ body. Thus, the entry of EDPs contaminated wastewater into aquatic bodies is a threat to the life and functioning of living organisms. The adverse effect of EDPs on living organisms is well documented worldwide. Globally, various approaches are being developed and adopted for the efficient removal of these contaminants from wastewater. Since last few years, the adsorption techniques have gained immense popularity for the sequestration of EDPs from various wastewaters. This chapter provides an overview on EDPs generation, its characteristics, impact on ecology and health, and its sequestration via bioadsorption techniques. The chapter also reviews the recent development of potential adsorbents and the different remedies applied to remove EDPs." @default.
