This chapter demonstrates that 'born digital' works are a distinct category of digital cultural heritage, and due to their recency, rapid obsolescence and currently somewhat niche position as works of cultural importance, pose significant challenge when it comes to their preservation, access and use by future generations. Using videogames as a case study, this chapter argues that the categories of cultural heritage institutions require broadening, and the permitted uses expanded to include adaptation, translation and transformation, so as to prevent their eventual loss." @default.
