- W4319069392 abstract "Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) photocatalyst is attracting widespread attention in the field of photocatalysis with prominent applications to combat energy and environmental issues owing to its high chemical and thermal stability, and non-toxic nature, and wide specific surface area. However, the weak visible-light absorption capability of the MoO3 photocatalyst constrains its further progress, primarily because of the sluggish charge transference mechanism. The design of the Z-scheme heterostructure has prominently enhanced the photocatalytic performance of MoO3 by improving the charge transfer pathway and visible-light utilization. The present review succinctly underlines the in-depth mechanism of Z-schemes and explains the crystal and electronic structure of MoO3. After, a comprehensive discussion of Z-scheme (ASS and direct) and s-scheme-based MoO3 supported metal oxide, g-C3N4, metal sulfides, Ag-based materials, and metal-organic frameworks are summarized. Finally, a conclusive remark is presented concerning current research gaps and future perspectives for the advancements in emerging highly effectual MoO3-based composites." @default.
