- W4319659646 abstract "Photocatalytic water splitting is the environmentally benign artificial photosynthetic pathway to dissociate water into hydrogen and oxygen. It provides a great platform for bridging the gap between solar input and lucrative output. However, the commercialization of efficient hydrogen evolution via photocatalytic water splitting is still in its embryonic stage. Perovskites and its derivatives encompass the plethora of knowledge and potential to get channelized in sustainable hydrogen energy production. Perovskite photocatalysts can replace the conventional materials such as TiO2 or platinum that possesses intrinsic drawbacks of limited scope of solar absorption and whopping cost respectfully. This review deals with the prospects of carrying forward the visionary approach of water splitting to generate clean hydrogen energy as a mean of sustainability by adapting perovskite photocatalysts. Diverse perovskite photocatalysts have been developed through numerous ways and attempts by anticipating their physicochemical stability and optoelectronic properties via theoretical and computational studies using several permutation and combination. An overview of structural and compositional modifications is presented through which the photocatalytic activity of perovskite photocatalysts can be improved. The perovskites nanostructures have been stressed more over their bulk counterparts due to the catalytic efficiency and other marvelous features of the former. We have busted our gut to cover all the different types of perovskite photocatalysts and sought to discuss all parameters for their modification in the betterment of hydrogen evolution which we envision to adopt in future. This article may assist the researchers for the future applicability of water splitting by the utilization of suitable perovskite photocatalyst accordingly." @default.
